Eligibility for 2 Year Olds

Children of 2-year-old can also be eligible for free early education and childcare if the parent/carer get one of the following:

  • If you are Income Support
  • Receive Working Tax Credit 4-week run on (the payment you get when you stop qualifying for Working Tax Credit)
  • Receive Tax Credits and you have an annual income of under £16,190 before tax
  • Are currently receiving income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance (JSA)
  • Are claiming income-related Employment and Support Allowance (ESA)
  • Receiving Universal Credit
  • Are receiving the guaranteed element of State Pension Credit
  • Are receiving support through part 6 of the Immigration and Asylum Act

A child can also get free early education and childcare if any of the following apply:

  • They are a looked after child by a local council eg Fostered
  • They have a current Education Health and care Plan (EHCP) of Special Education Needs (SEN) or a statement
  • They get Disability Living Allowance
  • They have left care under a special guardianship order, child arrangements order or adoption order
